First Grader

I’m not even sure how we got to this point. It’s like I’ve blinked and my once little baby is now off to first grade.
Its a double edged sword. You want your kids to be healthy and thriving, but at the same time you also want to stop time. To preserve their innocence and keep them safe from what can be a scary world.
Every stage, I’ve learned is new and it comes with both its perks and challenges. Sebastian is very strong willed and stubborn (which can be negative), but he also has so much character and is pretty dang funny.
The other day I was trying to get his attention and I kept saying his name as he continued to ignore me. Finally I said “HELLO?!”
and with this eyes closed and those long eylashes showing, he opens is eyes and in his best Adele voice says
“Hello
Its me
I’ve been wondering….”
I couldn’t even be mad at that point.
Sebastian is also at a stage where he wants to wear what he wants to wear. It’s mostly a battle to get him to wear the clothes I want him to. If it were up to him he’d wear jeans, a t-shirt and a pair of cowboy boots. Probably even to sleep in. ha. And I am ok with that for the most part, but I do like him to be dressed up a bit and so it is a compromise for both of us.
School shopping was really easy this year because he opted to go to the cabin fishing with my parents instead of choosing his own clothes. He seemed to like everything we picked for him so fingers crossed, wardrobe picking in the morning is painless.
First grade will probably be harder for me than for him. He still comes up and snuggles and needs his mama, but its becoming less and less. This kid of mine is outgoing, funny and smart. He is kind and will have absolute no problem thriving. Just look at him!
I have linked some of our school clothing buys below!
